About The Series
WCPO presents information to our viewers providing insight, perspective and solutions to the problems plaguing our city.

Rather than exploring the problems themselves, we feature stories which offer hope, solution and a positive direction away from the violence, deterioration and erosion of our inner-city and downtown areas.

...more details...

This is an open ended, multi-part series designed to explore the growing problem of violent crime in Cincinnati and its effects on the city and the entire Tri-state.

One major goal of the series is to engage viewers to begin to talk about ways in which we can begin a collective journey along the "Road to Recovery" from violence, fear, anger, and apathy. The ongoing emphasis is on finding solutions.

Additionally, the series will provide an opportunity for viewers to offer their own suggestions for solutions (through wcpo.com) and, perhaps most important, to identify community or grass roots efforts that are having some success in reducing violence.

The series begins Wednesday, December 14, 2005, on 9News @ 5:30 p.m. only on WCPO-TV, Channel 9.

Necessary steps for community rebirth
Creation of these steps involved several contributors.
...read all the steps...
Step 1
We must understand that the problems are greater than one race, one neighborhood and one city.

Step 2
We must take an inventory of the programs, agencies, tools and resources currently committed to our community's rebirth.

Step 3
We must evaluate these programs and agencies and determine their effectiveness.

Step 4
We must make wise decisions regarding the allocation of tax dollars.

Step 5
We must become involved in activities that improve our community.

Step 6
We must make amends to the hidden victims of violence.

Step 7
We must acknowledge that our neighbors extend beyond our fences and respect each others differences.
