COLLARS can be a strangulation hazard!! Years ago our dog Tabitha was "playing" with Gypsy's collar while G was wearing it. The collar got stuck on Tab's Canine's. Long story short, Gypsy almost died. I have heard this story repeatedly. Please always have them wear collars while outside...with ID, you may want to remove them while inside. If you pet is micro chipped, they will always have a back up ID.

Good health & safety tips for your pet!
- Make that annual vet appointment! Spay/Neuter, vaccinate, ask questions *write them down in advance*, micro-chip & stock up on heart worm preventive after having them tested!
- Check fence lines for holes and gaps!
- Replace old batteries in invisible fence collars! My family "met" 2 dogs in the past week who "escaped" due to dead batteries!
- Make sure your pet is wearing current identification info!
- Check collars that they are not too loose & not too tight.
- Storm season is frightening to many animals. Plan on bringing out door pets in during storms.
- There are some great OXY products that remove stains from fabrics and carpets, stock up.
- Check in to having your best friend micro-chipped! This one was worth repeating!
- Know of an animal that is being abused or neglected? Please report it to your local animal control officer.
- Travel safely with your pet. Vehicle windows should be cracked a safe distance. Check with your local police dept for safe travel tips with putting dogs in pick-up truck beds.
- If vacationing with your pet, do your homework! Research the local Chamber of Commerce and the local vets. Educate yourself on the health risks and safety concerns of the area. Example, we have taken one of our dogs to the Outer Banks with us. There are lots of beach houses for rent there that allow dogs. I went to Yahoo and found info on vacationing with our dog. Know where the local vets are and where to turn for help in a hurry. Whatever you do this summer with your pets, have fun and be safe!
- Having your pet groomed can promote good health and comfort!
- If looking to add a pet to your life, please consider the adoption option first! PETFINDER has thousands of local animals just waiting for their hero to come along!

PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER! More than 30,000 homeless/lost dogs & cats get euthanized EVERY YEAR in our viewing area! Too many pets, too few families! Please talk to your vet about the health benefits of spaying & neutering. Thanks for helping us help them!
VACCINATE Please make sure your pet is current on ALL VACCINES! PARVO is an almost instant, fatal disease that puppies contract easier than a human does a cold!
